Clint: We woke today to strong winds and rain but the boys were keen that's the spirit. Even with the tough conditions we got off to a great start and Kasey hooked and landed his first GT in the first 30min. After unhooking the fish Kasey made a cast in the same area and was into another fish straight away. We made our way to another reef and saw a heap more fish and as we came to the end of the ledge it was loaded with fish. Kasey was into another cracker this thing was as long as it was fat a real football and a great battle in the rough conditions going 33kg. As the day went on we saw plenty more fish and hooked several more.The highlight was seeing a pack of GTs eating a popper. They would drag it under the water and eat the popper before it could even float to the surface. After all that we got the biggest GT out of the pack. It went at least 10kg
Awesome day considering the very gnarly conditions.
John Dory:- Well what a shock waking to strong winds and rain. This was going to be an interesting day, considering the conditions there was some pretty exciting action in the morning session, Chris Tan hooked an absolute monster of a fish first cast at a sneaky shoal which after 5min of intense battle won its freedom after the PE 10 braid parted ways the whole boat was devastated as everyone saw the take and realised how big this fish was !! After a few more drifts we hooked a few Mackerel and finally caught a nice 27kg fish which took Cai to the limit this was fun to watch, the rest of the day saw a few fish raised and hooked but staying connected was not our deal today, considering the conditions and where we could fish today not too bad.
Glanville:- We woke up this morning to the worst weather believable, strong and heavy rain...never dampened the guys' spirits and we were out of here with high hopes, and the game began, we got off to a pretty good start and second spot we had a double hook up we continued our fishing and found a deadly point that was fishing insanely and before we knew it we had 12 fish to the boat and it was only 11am and whilst we had bent rods in action the wind reading remained strong and the rain still never gave up, but that didn't worry us as the fishing just seemed to get better we stopped at a deep shoal and the guys let their lures fly straight into a double hookup and what followed was actually quite frightening Brandon spotted a dinosaur of a GT eat a shark mackerel off the surface, an absolute mammoth of a creature that would not have been shy of 60kg, we ended the day off with an unbelievable score of 21 GTs and a mixed bag of other fish. Still can't believe that the fish were biting so much in the bad weather.
Damon:- Went north today, and it was a little bit of a fish desert. It is amazing to see that 5 miles SW of the anchorage, where Glanny fished, the fish are going nuts, and 5 miles north of the anchorage it is a desert. I've never seen such a disparity in fish numbers, but the mothership seems to be anchored on the edge of a huge area of GT life, and we're going south tomorrow to catch them!! We had a reasonably good day despite the weather and released 6 nice GTs but we had to work hard for them. Can't wait for tomorrow to go south and catch heaps!
