Stella 20000 SW

Brandon Khoo:
Mitchell, this is a question that has been asked before on a number of occasions. If you do a search, you will find previous discussions on the merits of high versus low gear ratio reels. There is only a marginal difference in weight between the reels. The key difference is the gear ratio. As a general rule, faster gear ratios are preferable for popping reels.

Stellas are excellent reels and probably the most popular popping reel on the market.

mitchell huner:
Thanks for that much appreciated.

Michael Burton:
I used a 20000 on my first ever popping for gt trip. It worked but for my being very inexperienced it was hard work.

Im taking an 18000 as well on my trip in a weeks time . Having now had some smaller high gear spin reels i understand the importance of gear ratios.

The higher the gears the less work you need to put in to get the lure moving faster.

cheers
Michael

Brandon Khoo:
The only time I would suggest a 20000 is when you are using really huge poppers. The extra winding power of the 20000 makes a difference in this situation.

mitchell huner:
If i could get one for around the $700 mark is it worth it, or not bother and wait for and 18000
