respooling a stella 20k?????

(1/2) > >>

Byron Ford:
hi guys i just ordered some jerry brown 100lb 600y braid to respool my stella 20k an was woundering if 600y will fit perfect or i will need to put 50m of backing, cause i know when i respooled it a few months back it took about 600m i think, an from what a mate told me its best to have your reel pretty spot on insted of 50m short for better casting???

Cam Foley:
i would think it would fill it easy,no backing needed.

Brandon Khoo:
Byron, the 20000 spool isn't that big! If you got the whole spool on, I'd suggest to you that you had PE5. You'll get from 350-400 yards of the 100lb on, depending how tight you spool it.

colin tecofsky:
Agree with Brandon.. Just done my 18000 with JB hollow 100lb wound on tight fitted 285y according to the counter so 400 give or take sounds about right for 20000 ;)

If no backing, do you use tape etc to line the spool arbor to prevent slippage?

Do most people not use backing when spooling a SOM NL spool?
