Stella 20000 capacity

David Reverdito:
How much 80lb (PE5) Sunline jigging braid will a Stella 20000 hold? I have 300m, which I am sure won't be enough... How much more should I buy and what's the best knot to connect the parts with? Or would it be daft to load it up with 50lb FINS (got heaps of that) and then the 300m of PE5 on top of that?

Mick Cunningham:
http://www.gtpopping.com/forum/index.php/topic,431.0.html    is that what your talking about  ::) ::)

i guess that you will need more than 300m  ;D

Cam Foley:
300m is enough put some mono backing under it and dont ever let a fish take you that far.

Chris Young:
G'Day Duckers, put the fins on & top shot it with PE5, bit suss about puting mono under braid under extreme loads as it may damage the spool  :'(. I doubt you'll ever get down to the join (on frigates) but if you want to be sure you could do a bimini double on both ends and the use catspaw to finish.

Brandon Khoo:
On PE5, you'd be looking at about 600m of line. As Chris said, what you can do is underlay it with another braid and then join the two lines together. After some recent testing of knots that I have done, I'd only use what Chris suggested which is two bimimis joined by a catspaw. If you're backing with mono, you could use something like a FG or a PR if you have the equipment to do one.-f the type of fishing you do is generally limited to fish where you will not need more than 300m of PE5, get yourself a 10000 spool and keep the 20000 spool for heavier line.

I was amazed to read an article from a very well known fishing writer from about a year to two ago suggest a 20000 with 50lb braid. You'd need a bloody serious spool of braid to fill this!
