You were invited Luke hahaha  and yes fortescue is by far the best option, The ramp at Fortescue is painful ( launching between the mangroves) and anything above a 5 metre boat needs a high tide to launch and retrieve and you have have to cross another river bed before you get to the Fortescue ramp!! Pm me anyone who needs more info on Fortescue and i will send you my phone number !!

And a 50kg Gt is do-able guys !!!! we saw them and were busted off 3 times in 20 minuets !!! pic below from last week out there .

Thanks to Brad bell for planting the original seed .

I am heading to the Monte's next year.

What would you guys say was the most effective popper for the time you were there?

I have heard that a few Sebile Splasher 190's are worth taking.

Cheers,

Chris

Just got back from this years trip to the monte's GT's were a little slow compared to last year but there were still a few around, my best went about 20kgs with the biggest being around 35kg. Plenty of fish sighted and hooked but not that many landed, one of the best parts of the trip was a big pack of GT's that rushed the boat, 3 hookups and two fish came off that but my lure was in 3 different fishes mouths but I couldnt wind fast enough to set the hooks and they were gone as quick as they showed up.
Quite a few macks around that relieved me of some lures including a virginal hammerhead only three casts old.
Discovered my MC Works 777 doesnt have the nuts to turn a GT but I expected that.
Plenty of fish on jigs but also alot of sharks around that made it harder to get fish up in tact.
When I get some quality pics I will post them or Les or others on the trip may help out.

Kyle
