Hi,
Have been rather busy, with Xmas and new years, but as Luke pm'ed me, I , have a few minutes for some photos
Since we were with David at that moment, maybe it is appropriate that I post them under this thread?
Popping Koumac to Ile Yande (If I am correct), based from Malabou. Popping was slow, as there was not enough wind to stir them up. For 7 days the wind barely blew above 5 knots most of the time. Yet we managed some fish; the doggie as you have seen, some big YFT up to 35kg (there were bigger, much much bigger but I think we were secretly hoping that these would stay away
) and GT up to 33kg or so. Other highlights include almost sight-casting to coral trout, emperors and groupers/cod using stickbaits inside the lagoon, and trolling for marlin with GT rods (unfortunately no marlin hookups but pesky barracuda), seeing a few 'tornados' of GTs rise (though not many), seeing BIG coral trout 'submarine' to have a look at our poppers, and watching a BIG GT spank my buddy upside-down, inside-out, stella-spool-never-stop-turning-until-bust-off. Oh and mackies with their 8ft-aerial-abilities and daring 'have a lunge at your popper just as you're lifting it into the boat' antics. All in all a steep learning curve and fantastic experience. Planning already to return hopefully in 2009.
Here are some pictures.
