Reel weight
Ricky Lim:
A lot of very good advise guys!!!! Cheers
Hi scott! I am about the same weight as you ( maybe a few extra recently ;D) and I also use the same gear. I know what you mean with the elbow. From my own experience casting heavy stuff all day sure put a toll on your body. Keep check on all things you do. Some things that helped me:
-use more of your legs when fighting fish
-change your standing posture when casting
-small cast then warmup to big cast
-work on a smooth action
-if you feel sore just do small cast, let the others with big cast draw the fish in (ask kasey Leong on these forum he's the king >:(
Other suggestions for the tennis elbow:
Bring some heat rub for after session
Have lots of alcohol to kill the pain after
Bring yourself a can of "Toughen up Princess" ;)
Just contributing my 2 cents worth
Ricky Lim:
"amateur" don't know about that! Sound like a very professional advise to me Amr.
Ricky
Andy Rowe:
1) Harden up and take the pain b :-Xtch
2) reduce masturbation
Sorry Scott not very PC, I just had to say it before someone else did ::)
But seriously, lighten up your tackle, your RF rods are about as they light as they get, the 10k with SOM and PE8 is a perfect compliment, I just about use nothing else these days, more casts, more fish. Sincerely good luck on solving your medical issues, let us know what works.

Wow, I'm blown away as everyone sounds a doctor haha
My 1 cent worth of knowledge
A light and balanced set up will let you cast further and longer all day long.
More cast may also means more time on the water and more chance of hooking up fish
Myself personally using a Twinpower 12000HG with 16000 nature boy spool always out cast my friends
While they rest I'm still casting away.
Some heat rub will lessen the pain
But with a Girlfriend or wife's hand tender rub. will let you forget about the pain totally haha
So next time when going out fishing
Bring him or her along and Both of you will have a better " bounding" time together.

Scott .
Most guys start with the strongest outfit they have on the first day , nowaday I know better and use the most forgiving outfit . The reason is that my muscled have to " acclimatized " first and once it's done , then I will use my heavier outfits . For guys who are very physically conditioned and seem to fish all the time , starting with the strongest outfit is OK but not for an occasional angler like me , I just do not want to jeopardise my multiday trip with muscle aches starting from the first day .
Jon .
