Blank suggestion
December 09, 2011, 06:24:00 PM
Hi all, I'm keen to build a medium jigging rod to target fish under 30kg. Blanks capable of working up to 300g lures. I'm currently looking at a JM powerspell 250g which I know are well proven, are there any other suggestions?

Synit Venom V250FT.  A medium weight jigging blank but one with impressive lifting power. Rated for jigs 100 to 350 grams. Very well proven.

See: http://www.synit.co.nz/venom-build-specs.html .

I own the heavier 550FT and have used the 250FT and 350FT. Can't speak highly enough of these rods - right up there with the very best of the Japanese.

I hope the Synit Venom blanks are still available but they might have been superceded by the Synit Deepshot series (Synit never seem to update their website, so you can't really tell).

I'd love to give the Synit ds150 and 250 a go, pretty happy with the Seriola Pro though.

Might have a hard time turning up the blank though, you can only buy Synit rods in Australia.

Thanks Mark, I thought of the Synit's straight after I put the post up. I'll have to look into sourcing one, hope its not too difficult.

Cheers

Yes it's a pity you can't just buy the blank itself. I looked into it along with the Jigging Master three kings special and from everything I've heard they are both top notch rods.

The other blank I have looked at is the Phenix Titan jigging which look pretty good, maybe not quite as good as the above two but still quality.

I am pretty sure you can buy Synit blanks.

Earlier this year for example, forum sponsor Kaiser in Singapore had a load of Synit Deepshot blanks and also some Synit Venoms.

How about the Ripple blanks rated at PE6. Very impressive lifting power and works jigs in the 200g to 350g beautifully too.......
Prehaps you may want to contact Richard of X'pedition Tackles from more infomation.  :D

i have a synit seriola and the tip is pretty soft yet able to work 500g jigs.  Its very good to use.  if you going for Jigging Master, you should look at the Three Kings specials cos its a league above the powerspells.

I have looked at the three kings, i think they are above what I'm after. The only thing I'm going to hook bigger than 20-30kg in these waters is a shark. I really only need to go to PE6 max and most of the time i'll be running PE4-5. 300g jig weight will be max as well. If I were to go bigger I would most likely build another Kaiser Seriola.
So far its between the JM 250 and the synit 250.

JM make lighter Three Kings blanks Warwick: see for example http://www.jiggingmaster-ag.com/home/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=172%3Ajigging-master-three-kings-special-53m-&catid=54%3A2010-11-16-11-20-28&Itemid=117&lang=en .

However, they are not (in my humble opinion) in the same class as the Synits.

Kelvin - I have never come across Ripple Fisher blanks for sale. Are you saying they are for sale in Singapore?
