G'day guys what's the best (slimmest) knot for connecting your mainline to a heavy leader via a bimini twist?

hey jay,
i find the "slim beauty" knot seems to travel through guides well (or as well as a knot can!) and seems to maintain good strength too. Easy to tie and with a little practice can be quick. Next i prefer the 'albright" hope this is of some help.

I tried the slim beaughty, couldn't seem to get it right and it didn't seem to be as slim as it should. I don't mind albrights for lighter line classes but I'm not confident using it for heavy tackle popper fishing...

what does everyone else use??

yeah I agree Rob they are really smooth, I was looking for an alternative to use with single strand though.

I've been using a very small section of twisted, then double crimped to single strand. Now my preferred setup.

No, if you measure up right (at least for me), the crimps are where I set my drop from the tip to the water, the crimped on twisted section allows for easy connection to mainline double. Just cover the crimps with some heatshrink so that you don't accidentally wind to the tip.

What is the length of your leader overall Luke? I use the same system with a 2-2.5m Twisty to a .6m bite leader. The same system can also be used for a Twisty or Mono and short multi-strand wire bite leader.

Have shortened quite a bit from what I used to use. Around 1.5 metres with a bit of the twisty/mainline out from the tip so that the popper is near to or in the water

Hi Luke,
what advantage do you find with this set up compared to a full length twisty or a twisty with a FC bite leader?

Obviously if you're not winding the leader through the guides casting mishaps are minimised, anything else?
