Mike, that fish absolutely kicked my butt. It didn't just spank me!  :D
I had a lot of drag on that reel. I could barely turn it with my hand and of course, with some 100m of line out, that would have increased the drag further. It broke me off with its run when the rod hit the side of the boat.

Samson fishing is a lot of fun. I'll try again next year!

If it swims; I want to catch it!

Christ  i had to watch that over and over , look carefully as i'm sure you have already Brandon and the rod makes nearly a cmplete u shape how did it not snap i will never know  :o

Smiths are good - I've had a few of them and I've had some of their popping rods pushing close to that!

 i was thinking about buying  Smith WRC-54 Fremantle  but but just saw this smith nirai rod hmmm which one dunno yet got to think again

Ditto Mick, the Nirai covers more bases, as in our back yard [SEQ] and HD expeditions. Neil and Duncan both carry them and will look after you ;D
