Mike, that fish absolutely kicked my butt. It didn't just spank me! 
I had a lot of drag on that reel. I could barely turn it with my hand and of course, with some 100m of line out, that would have increased the drag further. It broke me off with its run when the rod hit the side of the boat.

Samson fishing is a lot of fun. I'll try again next year!

Christ  i had to watch that over and over , look carefully as i'm sure you have already Brandon and the rod makes nearly a cmplete u shape how did it not snap i will never know

Smiths are good - I've had a few of them and I've had some of their popping rods pushing close to that!
