SOM spools for New Saltigas

Hi all

Anyone can confirm if the SOM spools can be used with the "New Saltiga" range???

i.e: SOM 6500 on a New Saltiga 6000GT or 6500H. Or what about SOM 4500 on a New Saltiga 5000???

Hi Steve

The SOM NL 4300Z spool (to fit 4500Z) will fit and operate on the new 2010 4500/5000 series. There is a new SOM NL 2010 4500 spool (model no. 10ST5000F) that only works on the 2010 saltiga - while it appears to fit the 4500Z, the rotor hits the spool on the downwards stroke.

Also while the handles of each series are interchangeable, the new MC Works BB handle will only fit the new 2010 model. The machining on the MC Works handle is too thick to clear the side plate of the 4500Z series. There is a JM handle (no knob) that fits both series.

Thanks Les!!! Thought it will be difficult to get feedback here as I noticed most members appear to prefer Shimano Stellas......

Good to know that the ST4300 can be used with the New Saltigas. Was not aware that theres a 5000F model made for the 2010 Saltigas already. But if its a "No Limits" version, its probably gonna cost a bomb!

Any idea about the bigger size SOM spools like the ST6300??? Can they fit the New Saltiga 6000GT or 6500H??? In other words, can the previous model 6000/6500 size spools fit the new 2010 models??? Are they interchangeable?

Don't worry, I have my Stellas as well.

The 2010 SOM spools are No Limits and the cost is similar to the Z model series
