Hey Tom,

Just had a look at the specs on the new JM handle.......holy crap, are they really 103mm long?

I note the regular Shimano handle for the 8000/10000 is 70mm and my Yumeya 'Long' handle is only 75mm!.....that makes the JM a handle and a half (quite literaly)!

I would assume there has been some extensive testing?.......No broken drive trains or snapped handles?  Any feedback from Shimano?

......No complaints of Tennis Elbow?

Hi Peter,

Yep 103mm
But measured the same way the Stella handles are around 90mm (hard to tell exactly on my tape measure.

If you were to measure the JM handle the same way as the Stella and Yumeya it would be around 80mm

Basically, the JM handle is 1cm longer than the stock handle. Giving you a little more cranking power on the reel.

JM tested them and found no issues with the longer handle.
An Engineering friend of ours actually made us a longer handle for a Saltiga a while ago and that was pretty awesome to use.

Hope this helps,

Tom

Thanks Tom, that makes a bit more sense.....they are not measuring centre to centre!

I'll shoot you an order!

Hi Michael,

The JM handles are 10mm longer than the 2010 Saltiga stock handles.

The longer handle is actually really nice to use.

Cheers

Yep the stock knobs will fit
I would imagine any knob that fits on stock handle will fit on JM handle

Do the aftermarket handles, either JM or MC Works make a great difference for popper fishing with a stella? I have one for jigging on a 8000pg, and love the action I get with it, but do I need one for a 10000SW?

I was down at the shop the other day having a look at these spools. Not the prettiest in the ocean but they look rock solid!

The main difference Stu is the increased cranking power with the longer handle.
You're effectively creating a longer lever and thus it takes less energy.

I fished 2 combo's on my last trip side by side. One Dogfight with a standard handle, and one with an aftermarket handle which was 10mm longer. I have to say, whilst i didn't notice it  as much whilst retrieving my lures, i found i always preffered the longer handle when fighting the fish.

Hope this helps,

Cheers
