Hi Jeff,
The rod is a typical tuna rod and has no back bone to horse GT's, the unique taper of the seven miles allow you to cast the lighter lures for tuna and has proven to land big fish in Japan but lack that lifting power that a GT's rods need.
i would strictly use it for Tuna.

Hi Sami,

That was great info on the SM777CR.
With that being mentioned, do you think the EX7105HF will be more suitable for handling small to mid-sized GTs or it's better to look elsewhere.................

Hi Kelvin, Sami was right. I have on 2 occasions fished with EX7105HF and landed GTs below 25kg felt extremely enjoyable but I have no luck to test anything bigger.
