I have a question about the black zip tie you are putting on the GT`s tail. Do you think in the long run they would do more harm to the fish than good. As in creating a rub mark which would ulcerate and become infected and then affecting the fishes health in the long run.

Possibly Rob. The ties are fitted very loosely and I think what you suggest is unlikely, but possible. The fish that have been re-caught have shown no signs damage.

I know that Adhek believes these simple tags are less likely to cause infection than those that pierce any part of the fish.

It's not me putting them on by the way - it is Adhek with his CARE program.

ok mark i hear you when you say less likely to cause infection than those that pierce any part of the fish. I asked the question as some years back i caught a yellowtail kingfish that had a big chunk out of its side. The wound was healing but it was ulcerrating around the edge of the wound like proud flesh and looked very infected and the smell of the wound was awful. I released the fish as i don`t think it would have been any good for the table with the way it smelt.

Mark, my boys  boys and I flew back over Nusa Penida on Tuesday from Komodo to Bali  and from the air could see the currents absolutley roaring -  i did wonder if if you were out there ? great fish.
