Product availability update - TBL
December 20, 2012, 08:13:08 AM
TBL 83/32 is now in stock.

This is brand new model in the series with below specifications.

Length: 8.3ft
Line: PE6-8
Lure - 170g
Drag: 11kg

This is power up version of TBL80/30 and will be really good light outfit when you have spare luggage space for your trip.

It has good lifting power for the class and easily handles 30kg+ GT and a few 40kg+ has been captured in Tokara with this rod while testing.

I have fished with this rod on one or two trips when this was prototype and honestly liked it.

I have only casted my TBL 80/40 so far. Priceless!
Effortless to cast gamma 160s & 200s, Thou I feel the sweet spot is a Gamma 160 rigged with 2X GT Recorders 6/0 (but thats just me).
My trip is in a week's time, can't wait to land a good fish with it.

I am putting money down that this will be a classic Carpenter, one that will be in demand for a long time to come.

Cheers

Hi Syd, There is always slight difference on rod pricing between dealers and that is the reason I hardly post pricing in this section. Please contact dealers for pricing matter.

Sorry I didn't mean I would sell rods directly through here on my previous post but if anyone need it urgently, please PM me with name of your preferred dealer. I will sort it out quickly. Sorry for confusion.

Cheers,
Tak

I am with you Ben... just got mine and it is a beauty. I have cast a friend's custom version before and am convinced this rod will become a Carpenter classic.

TBL80/40

hey guys... will the TBL80/40 handle poppers too, or is it strictly for sticks?  if it can handle poppers, what's the max weight recommendation?  thanks in advance!

Mark. It is very much a stickbait rod in my humble opinion. That being said I did try using Seafrog 120 Twinhook and Cubera 125 with mine and it works those OK.

I would suggest that there are better Carpenter all rounder options though.

Hi Mark,

I tied on a El Toro 125 and 150 (Same as Heru Cubera 125/150) just to check it out, had a few cast but did not fish with it.

Anything with a cup face of no more than 40mm wide (El Toro 125) is fine, but to really load the rod up to cast to its full potential the lure needs to be 150-160 grams unrigged.
At that weight coupled with a 40mm cup face, we're in the pencil popper territory.

I am not saying it can't be done, but its a big compromise to cast poppers with it.

Hope this helps.

ps; Just a personal sentiment on this rod, I loved it so much I bought another one.
