Lure Storage?

My collection is slowly growing and no doubt most of you would have plenty more then I would. Just curious as to what you guys store your poppers and stickbaits in? And are they rigged or unrigged?

I never store rigged Troy as it is cumbersome.

Also it pays to clean your hooks and split rings carefully, dry them and store them in a sealed container.  You can't really do that if the hooks and rings are being left on the lure.

I store the lures I use most often on a wall mounted board, so  I can easily pick out the ones I want to take with me.  If it's a day trip, the ones I want just go into the expanding side pocket of a large deck bag and I usually rig on the way out to the spot.

I use roll up bags and store them unrigged.

Like Mark, I remove the hooks and split rings and store them separately in airtight containers. I make sure that before I get on the boat I have a selection of hooks sizes and types pre-rigged with split rings so that all I have to do on the water is connect the split rings to the lure. If I want to change lures quickly I just put hook covers on and put the lure still rigged in my bag where I'll take the hooks off when I have more time.

Hey Ben,
The longest lure that fits in the Hpa popper roll is a 200 gamma 275mm and it's only just with the end closed. I have a lot of lures longer than that in mine that hang out the end. I really hope they make one bout 50mm+ longer.

I use roll up bags designed for skirted trolling lures, they are not quite as purpose built for the job as the HPA But they certainly do the job. I also store my lures unrigged with the hooks etc in waterproof tackle trays.

I keep my lures unriged in those plastic sandwich boxes if I change lures I just put the hooks onto the new lure and drop the used lure into my boat bag and give it a wash in fresh water later then let it dry out before I put it back into it's box stops the fittings going rusty,

Thanks for the replies. Might look at getting one of those roll up bags. I have a similar one for skirts and another for jigs. How many lures fit in the bag? Looks like 10 with an extra compartment for rigging gear going by the pics on the H.P.A. website? Might need to get 2 for future purchases... Or 3, haha.

Has anybody used anodes on there hooks to prevent corrosion? I use them on skirted rigs and they definitely help.

Hey Troy,
The Hpa is a lot bigger than it looks. I mainly use large lures 150-220 and my bag has at least 25 lures in it. U fit 2 minimum in every small holder and in the large one on the end 3-4.

Chris is dead right there. You can fit a heap of lures in one HPA bag.
