Re: Musandam Oman Tuna
September 24, 2012, 11:44:55 AM
Rich, Philippe, Bjorn, Dorbs and Wes did a few days in the Musandam and caught some great fish especially some massive longtail tuna! The guys were supposed to fish Southern Oman but unfortunately the khareef (monsoon) is still blowing and we have not been able to start the season. But as a backup plan we managed to fish the Musandam and had great fun also with new Captain LB taking the guys out.

Dorbs with a massive longtail tuna on light tackle

Rich with another big longtail caught on light tackle with a Trevela 6.6 and Shimano Stradic 6000 with 30lbs braid, took him 55 minutes
Triple up with smaller tuna, millions of them around at the moment!

Rich with a small GT

Philippe with a kingfish caught on stickbait.

Cheers,
Nick

Hi Guys

Here's a few pictures of some of the GT's that came out over the weekend. Conditions were a bit rough with bumpy seas and stiff winds but the guys handled it like champions and those that persevered were rewarded nicely. Top spot goes to Werner with a fat GT of 104 cm. Heinrich van Niekerk also gets an honorable mention for his first ever GT which was well over 20 KG.

The Kingfish were also around in big numbers and we had multiple strikes each day but couldn't make them stick, still its always a good laugh watching a big Spanish Mackerel come flying out the water with a popper sideways in its mouth like a dog with a bone!

Till next time tight lines

We changed spots and were rewarded with a double up on our first drift again with Theo and myself going tight with our lures only a few meters away from each other.  We boated the two best fish of the day both healthy specimens in the mid-twenties a couple of snapshots and they were back in the water.

My favourite fish of the day caught on my new Yamaga 70/4

For those of you coming out to the Musandam soon the fish are favouring larger stick baits in natural colours fished slowly.
Cheers Cameron
