What is the difference betweeen the two WV models you have quoted.

WV83 is the heaviest GT rod made by Carpenter. It can fish a maximum of 17kg of drag while the WV is rated to 15kg. Mind you, I see WV80s being fished beyond 15kgs all the time without any issues whatsoever.

Also, the WV83 has a extended butt and is a popular model for tall anglers or anglers who have long arms. If you're looking for a Wild Violence, my suggestion is to go for a WV80 unless you need the extra length in the butt.

At the asking price that WV83XH STR is a bargain because of recent price increase of Carpenter rods and presuming WV83XH STR is an R-DX model , it has stronger guide binds that the standard " factory " rods from Carpenter , an option of approx. US$. 35.- .
