Reel to pair with Ripple 5215 ?
Stanley Yow:
My biggest concern is that will the stella 20k be too heavy for me to jig the whole day. What do you think about pairing the RF 5215 with the stella 10k and the SOM 16000. Btw what is the minimum line capacity do you guys use to jig at places like AUS and NZ cause i have a trip to NZ at the end of dec this year.
Thanks for the help guys,
Stanley
Scott Maybury:
I haven't used the 5210. The 5215 will fish 200-400 jigs just fine
You could put a 10000SW on the 5215 I just think it actually balances better with the heavier reel, because it is not a super light rod itself. Unless you have SOM spool you may then have lone capacity issues. It would make it easier to use all day I guess.
In NZ we were commonly jigging 80-110m, and similarly in Australia we commonly jig 40m to 120m, so it just depends where you are going and what you are chasing. If I am jogging 100m I don't want to only have 250-300m of line. A few bust offs over a trip etc and you start getting light on line. But maybe that is just me being paranoid etc

Thanks for the reply Scott Maybury. As what you say is right, i think i will have to go for the stella 20k and may i wish all you guys happy fishing.tight line

Duncan O'Connell:
Hi Guys - sorry for the late reply on this Amr
The 5210 and 5215 are pretty similar in terms of balance and not too far different in the butt strength. The main difference is at the tip end where the 5210 is a fair bit softer. I don't have one in my hot little hands at the moment, but I would suggest (like Scott, Chris and Amr have said) the 5210 and 5215 will both work best with the 20K size reel. If you are looking for something to balance an 8000-10000 size reel, then a rod a touch lighter would do the trick nicely.
For fishing the shallows, the 5210 will come into its own for stopping big beasts in tiger country like GT, Dogtooth and monster seriolas, but it will probably be a bit heavy for all day jigging for more regular size critters.
cheers
Duncan
