Bun, I'm really hoping for good weather that we can do some jigging for nice doggies in Marion  ;D

Chris, after our trip in May you maybe adding Marion Reef to your list   :D::) ;)

Hi Greg,
What are the potential species available on jigging at Marion Reef? Thought most of the time, you guys pop rather than jig there :)

Cheers,
Kai

Kai,
As Chris went for best spot for specific species, is that what you are after?
Or a mixed bag of ginormous fish??
Just asking, since some other places such as Break Sea Spit and quite a few of the Coral Sea Atolls may have Amberjack, wahoo, doggies, yellowfin...the worx...though some ARE definete largest of a particular species...

Greg,
Mogi-sans doggie I filmed in 2006 should back that claim up :)
He hooked a bunch of stonkers ON ONE SINGLE DROP..ALL 80+kg models...I think he needed another butt bung after that arvo  ;D ;D ;D ;D

Yeah Aaron, some of that Mogi clip is classic  :o.
Cam and I will take any jigging opportunities that arise as well as the popping, also it would be good to have a session with Brandon with his WA Samson "WOW" factor  :D ;).
Kai, sorry about the delayed answer as I just caught up with the topic after a couple of 'blurred weeks', as far as the Marion jigging is concerned the focus is on the Doggies with a by-catch of reef edge species. We will not be just 'Heavy Metal' as we will try some big Soft Plastics [Soft Baits in NZ lingo] as well. Will be very interesting  :-\ ;D.

Kai,
Marion has big GT's wahoo and doggies to target on jigs.
The same species inhabit areas that the top-water guys want to hook up on as well.
You do get green jobfish, mega trout and could hook a yellowfin of large proportions too....just depends on the bait & currents you have during your stay.

Bun,
The Mogi Clip WAS classic...I've never seen another location where Damon goes to where there is as many big dogs as that first trip. It was awesome!!!
Having said that, some places to the north he has explored have fished extremely well...I just personally haven't been so I can't comment...

Cheers

Aaron.

Our group takes over from Duncan and Matt's crew, so we should get a run down on whats happening  ;D.

Hi Aaron,
I would think that a mix bag adds to the mystery & excitement of jigging :) I am kindof searching for consistency in the hookups + the occasional unstoppable......

Would it be possible to pass me the classic clips of Mogi San?

Hi Greg,
I think i will skip the samsons this time round. done that 2 years in a row... what percentage of the time is split between popping & jigging at marion?

Now the doggies & YFT is giving me sleepless nites too! There must be a good reason for counting sheeps when you can't sleep... no one counts doggies & YFT :) haha

I will love to fish Marion some day... hopefully in 2009. Just have to find a crazy and funny group to join & the $$$ ;)

Greg,
Sorry about that... ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
Didn't mean to upset your sleeping pattern!

Kai,
The footage of Mogi should not have been available yet...it was to go into a DVD before being used otherwise so I'll have to chew on it for a couple days if that's alright...needless to say, there are some ginormous doggies out there, with the best I have seen topping 90kg, though there were some larger ones lurking down deep...how big??..120+!!!!
One of the guys had a stonker over 80 cream him on a stick bait. That was pretty damn awesome!!!

Cheers

Aaron.
