Khasab - March 2012
October 29, 2012, 09:21:23 AM
Last year, just around this time we were figuring where we should travel to for our first GT Popping trip. After some research (=reading reports on the board), we decided to go to Khasab/Musandam, in March.
After a night in Dubai and a short visit in the Ocean Active store, we drove to Khasab along the beautiful coastal road.  We could hardly wait to finally get the lures into the water.

The following days were absolutely stunning. We had very little wind and perfect conditions throughout our trip, which enabled us to catch great variety of fish, including some nice GTs.
The biggest measured 122cm, all caught on Poppers, we did not have a single attack on Stickbaits (Gunz/Sebile).

Besides the Gts we managed to catch various species while jigging. From Emperors, to Snappers, different Trevallys and Barracudas.

The sole thing that was a little bit disappointing was the shore fishing. The only species we caught were small Groupes, Emperors and Garfish. Fortunately we had brought some squid lures.  Catching squids was real fun, they are really plentiful along the rocks there.

We really couldn't have asked for much more. The fishing was sensational and our guide and the locals were super friendly.
Not that I am writing this report, looking out of the window and seeing the snow on the roofs , I can hardly stand the waiting for the next trip.

We've also put some of the fishing action in this video:

Thanks again to Nick and Barry for the help and the tips!
