Tony Warnett:
My Family and I have just returned home to WA from our holiday at Hamilton Island QLD.
During our stay on Hamilton Island we charted Sea Fever Sports Fishing for an overnight charter last Thursday and Friday they operate out of Airlie Beach there boat Reel Work is a 32 foot Game Boat.
Target Species Giant Trevally on surface lures.
With some Blue Water trolling in between spots.
All equipment was supplied by the charter which included.
Custom Aussie Built 7'8 PE 10 Popping Rods.
Shimano Stella SW 1800.
Lures used where Halco Roster Poppers with upgraded terminal tackle.
Various brands of stick baits where taken but the poppers where the stand out.
Not having to lug rod tubes and copious amounts of tackle was a nice change.
Service quality and put you on the spot from our skipper Ash was ten out of ten very professional service.
last Thursday we were picked up at 0600 from the main ferry terminal on the Island.
We commenced our two and a half hour voyage out to Hook and Hardy Reef.
Breathtaking spot taking in the Island s with the family as  we headed out to the reef.
High Lights of the trip.
My oldest daughter catching her first GT and the largest Mackerel for the trip.
Youngest Daughter catching her first Mackerel and shark and various other species having the whole family involved and having fun was awesome for the two days.
Snorkelling late afternoon on the reef and then moving around to our anchorage point and Ash saying just have a cast into that pressure spot on the reef which was holding bait third bloop from the popper and it was ambushed by an XL Black GT on Sunset.
Twenty one GT were caught and released over the two days which does not include all the missed strikes and one tackle failure.
One large GT penetrated the popper to the internal rattle with its teeth making it a sinking pop bait.
The conditions where perfect for the visual display from these fish and how hard they strike loved it hope you enjoy the pictures.
