I honestly don't think it is worth your while doing it - that is why I suggested you go shopping instead.

On the GT pond, I will leave it to the locals to respond but they are not as easy to catch as it may appear. The fish have developed quite a bit of familiarity with lures.

Fishing is not too great in Singapore, below are the options:

1) Local light/micro jigging - there are some charters plying the southern islands for this style of fishing. The jigs range from 5-20g (micro jigging) to 40 - 100g (light) jigging. You can also do madai and inchiku jigging, also about the same weight range. You can expect the likes of small groupers, parrotfish, diamond/golden trevallies. Nothing major, but could be rather fun on a 10lb setup.

2) Reservoir luring - there are peacock bass and giant snakeheads in the reservoir of Singapore. However, local authorities have severely restricted the areas whereby you are allowed to fish. All fishing is land-based, no boats.

3) Paypond - as fishing is terrible in the natural environment, there are many payponds. The GT pond in Singapore is famous as the GTs there are well-taken care of and have played host to many overseas anglers and tackle manufacturers. The fishes are about 5-10+kg but can be pretty fun for a quick fix. And yes, the fishing is not easy as the GTs have been well acclimatized to lures.

I think shopping is a good idea, Kaiser Pro Shop, Sabre Tackle, Anglers Outfitter, Anglers Hut have a good range of tackle.

Agree w HweeGuang. U should try the GT pond. It is pretty fun with light tackles!
Kaiser/ Sabre Tackles/ Lure Haven/ Anglers Outfitter are the bigger tackles shop for shopping.
Enjoy your stay in Sg!

Personally,I would go for the Signapore Blackened Crab at the Ritz Carlton Millenium with perhaps a bottle of Cloudy Bay followed by a quick trip to either Crazey Joes ,Orchid towers or the bar under the Hlton.
Pop it, pop it, rip it, rip it, eat it, eat it, tight line, FISH ON, YES!

I second Neville's suggestion for some black pepper crabs :D

Simon: there is a paypond that stocks giant snakeheads. However, I do not frequest payponds so I can't really review it. More info at http://www.fishingparadise.com.sg/, take note, you gotta book the giant snakehead/toman pond beforehand, no walk-ins. The main pond does not stock giant snakeheads.

Jason,
You can take a 4 hours drive from Sngapore and get to Rompin for sailfish. March, may be, is not a good time though...

Dimitrii - going to fish in Rompin from Singapore is hardly a casual four hour drive. It's a drive into another country, you have to clear the dreaded causeway and immigration in Malaysia which alone can take ages and then find your way through regional Malaysia where there is a language barrier. It's quite a journey, even for the initiated.

When I travelled that way, it was very simple. The operator fetched me the car to Singapore in the evening and got me to the Rompin by midnight. Next day in the morning I was fishing.

Immigration procedures to Malasia took about 3 minutes if not count about 30 minutes I spend in line (sitting in the car).

The dreadest thing was 4 hours car drive. Local drivers are just crazy!
