Land-based GT Popping - where?

I am interested in land-based GT popping trips. Does anyone have any recommendations on which charters to go for? Want to land biggies from land. Looking to spend ~7 days.

Hi Zeck ,

The western coasts of Sumatra as well as the Mentawai islands are good for that , a few sp[ots in the southern part of Java too but all in cases , you need a good 4WD vehicle to get to the places and quite a few steps down the cliffs too , will definitely involve camping .

we got a few landbased just outside the surf camps at Krui in South Sumatra two years ago. lots of smaller fish to 15kg

Plenty of resort Islands in the Whitsundays that hold big fish.
Land based popping is possible at most.....Just watch the green zones.

Anywhere is northern Australia is your Oyster. If there is somewhere that has more coastline and GT water I haven't seen it! We have landed GTs to 30kg in Australia and New Caledonia from shore/rocks - there are bigger ones out there!
