Was greeted by 30plus winds on arrival and that was how she stay for all 6 days while i was there, with white caps in the lagoon chasing little blue spots trevs was even out the question, but with a little drop in the wind one mid day the call was made to get the boat in on the high tide and hit a few bommies in the lagoon for a hour or so,
With only a few little followers in the lagoon an the side passage out to the east of the island looking doable, the call was made to push out into it an cast back with the wind on my back, getting out was less then comfy and with a bit of swell to go with the wind made it tuff working 150g poppers, but that all changed after hooking up on the 3rd cast, in the conditions my dad pretty much pulled the boat to safer water past the reef before i fought the fish, in total 4 fish landed in the short hr sesh, with a big bust off while running to deeper water locked up,
but for me best part of the day was a massive strike that ended in a mis hooked fish, of what both me an my dad believe a 50kg monster
lure 's used 150 green cubera (donated after 2nd fish) then down sized to a 120 yellow cubera
