Terminal Knot with 2 Contact Points
Sean Costello:
Great thread Luke
I had used a single pass uni until I popped one on my last trip and lost confidence, I used the chain knot to get me through the trip but as touched on it is bulky and does not sit nice in heavy leader.
Plenty of new options to work with here

Just for reference, I tried the trilene which is so like to the 'improved clinch', simple and similar result. I am thinking there is an added increment of security over the improved clinch using the loop at the terminal area..... for anyone interested.
Mark Harris:
You have got it to sit and bite very well there Andy. What is the brand and poundage of the leader? I struggle to get a Trilene sitting that well with 170 lb but I am sure it comes with practice as I have seen this knot tied beautifully so many times.
I really want to practice this one as it has a huge, long record of doing the job.
Brandon Khoo:
Andy, isn't the Trilene and the improved clinch identical except there is one additional step with the improved clinch?

Brandon Khoo:
I've been testing all the knots this afternoon. I can get all the knots to sit well and bite on 170lb except the uni knot with two turns. I just don't have the knack for that unfortunately. Of all the knots, the easiest knot to tie is the Jansik knot. It is so easy to tie and to get to bite that I am going to switch to this knot and see how it goes. I have tested the knot to destruction (almost my own destruction!) and it's strong - no slippage at all. It also has the advantage of being the smallest knot of all those that i tested.
Great thread Luke - the two contact points is clearly the way to go.
