As the title says...
Snapped all six screws that attach the main gear to the main drive... :(

Shane - that's some bad luck right there.

Have you sent or sought advice from Shimano regarding this damage?

It would be good to see some background accompanying this video as material of such nature can lead to irrational discussion. If you are looking for assistance and discussion regarding this problem - then I suggest you actually outline it here in this topic.

Shimano sending new Main Gear so alls good with world... :)

Anyone else had such a thing happen with a 18000/20000SW?

This particular reel was less than 12mths old and treated better than my first born child, had only caught around 80 odd GT's and a handful of tuna...

Glad to hear Shimano are sorting it out.

Did you get the fish in with the hand lining at the end of the video?

Good to hear Shimano are co-operating mate. Hope you did not tell them what you have been casting with it  8) .

I have never had a problem with an 18000 and 20000 but I did seriously bust a 10000.

Hi Mark
If you don't mind me asking, what happened with the 10k
This is one of the first 18k (08's) that I've seen with issues.
For the weight saving and smaller size fish, the 10k body size is still very appealing but I appreciate the argument of pushing too much pressure on a smaller reel (10k vs 18k)

Don't worry about it Mark. Stellas are just amazing reels with a seriously good track record in GT fishing. We give them a hell of a lot of abuse and it is not surpising that the very occasional one explodes.

If you are just going to own one popping reel then I would suggest the 18000 ahead of the 10000.

Yep landed the fish hand-lining but I'm way to ashamed to say what it was, lets just say it was a monster.... ;)

As they say, nothing is indestructable, but great to see shimano came to the party. Leigh
