Single hooks size on Sebile Stick Shad 182
Dan Kaggelis:
Hi Guys
Really love this sticky and have been experimenting on a variety of trebles and singles. I am finding the singles ( mostly using decoy seargents) allow for a better action however I am just wondering what size I should be using on this lure?
Cheers
Dan
Mahmoud Salem:
I'm very interested as well for the replies, I want to do the same with the same lure as well as the smaller size(155mm)
Guy Durham:
I think these lures generate a lot of strikes too.
I tend to use big singles assist rigged off the nose as I've seen the wire torn out of the bottom & hooks disappear when connected to the traditional hook locations.
It is just a plastic lure after all.
Dan Kaggelis:
Thanks guy I haven't experienced any failures however no GT over 35kg yet. Any idea on size of your hooks. Also standout colour has to be the mullet
Ryan Keith:
Guy makes two good points - the big Stick Shadd attracts plenty of strikes, but the wire can be ripped out by big fish. I've also noticed that when GTs aren't particularly fired up, they'll hit this lure but miss the hooks. I think a single belly hook swings up beside the lure's body, concealing the hook point. I've been using the singles that are included with the Sebile 'Sun & Salt series' Stick Shadds (they're the same pattern as Decoy Sergeants, but larger than 8/0s). Perhaps back-to-back Owner SJ-41s might increase hook exposure under the belly, but I reckon they could kill the lure's action.
