Single hooks size on Sebile Stick Shad 182
Lorenz Seebauer:
Hi guys
what splitrings do you use on your Stick Shadds?
Big regular splitrings do not seem to fit perfectly...or are the eyes of the salt&sun version bigger?
Best regards Lorenz
Ryan Keith:
Lorenz, I use Owner split rings in size 10 and they fit just fine. Perhaps the eyelets are larger on the S & S series.
Lorenz Seebauer:
Ok, thank you. I will check that!
Here a pic of one of my Stick Shadd 182 with Varivas 200 and 300 lbs and Decoy JS-1 and JS-2 in 8/0 :o
edit:
200 lbs at the front, 300 lbs at rear and belly. That wasn't good. I only have another Sebile in the same size which has sligthly larger eyelets. No problems with varivas 150 and with the 200 lbs it worked fine, except at the belly, but it was still ok...
Ryan Keith:
Hmm... that does look a little tight. I would use the strongest split rings possible, provided they move freely through the eyelets and don't impede the lure's action. I'm tempted to recommend using a lighter gauge split ring, but I'd hate for someone to lose a big fish as a result!
Lorenz Seebauer:
Yes it was tight, thats why I put on a second splitring on the front for a better lure action. A friend had a few of the "new" Bouz splitrings with another design and thin wire. He claimed it was the 560 lb version and that fitted good. I will check the S&S Version and try some other splitrings.
