I recall reading somewhere that the BLC84/25 'super cobra' designation refers to being able to throw very light lures relative to its line and drag rating. Not sure about the other members of this designation.

I have the BLC 83/35 and although I can't confirm what Carpenter intended with the "Super Cobra' label your description pretty much fits that rod.

On the carpenter website it says on the BLC 80/35 write up that SC stands for " like a  SUPER COBRA being very aggressive and strong in attack"
