The Day started very early as Barry had to leave Abu Dhabi at 2am to be in Dibba by 5am as we wanted to get out early. We got up at 5am and Barry was 10minutes from the border which was perfect timing. We had a quick bite to eat packed the car and off we set to the marina. It was still dark when we got down to the marina but we had a little bit of tackle to put on the boat as GT fisherman are gear junkies. By the time we were done we were on our way up to Musandum. Flat seas, very little wind and great company.
Still dark getting to the marina.
Derrick and me. Hoping for a good day out on the water.
Barry setting up, Derrick relaxing and Damon starting the engines.
Beautiful morning sunrise.
Happy campers. On the Hunt for monster GT's.
Barry catching a few winks as he had been up since 2am driving from Abu Dhabi.
We had a few stops on the way up as we normally do. On our first drift we saw some current and fusiliers which got us very happy. Barry using his stick bait like a skipjack got one fish to come up and eat but unfortunately it came off. On the second drift I was lucky enough to get a nice little GT to eat my lure and was a good warm up for me. I was also very impressed with the casting of my New Hots 83H and it also was really nice with the fish on the end worked very well.

We then headed a little bit further than normal and at this spot the current was pumping and our spirits were lifted again. First drift and Barry was on again with another good fish this fish got bullied into the boat but was a nice 108cm. we went for another drift but nothing so we followed the current line and in the distance we saw what we thought was big tuna so we raced over to try get one. Damon decided to throw a spoon with 30LB braid and a Shimano twinpower 5000. As he was winding it back this monster fish came chasing after the spoon right up to the boat and as it got closer he saw it was a GT around 30kgs. Then there were screams of GT GT GT.
Barry in again.
GT at the boat Damon about to land it.
ASWB doing the trick again.
Nice GT.
We looked around and were ever we looked there were these feeds. Then we all started casting our big rods. Another GT on, Barry with another fish. We were in the middle of a GT feed or GT blitz as they called. It was something amazing. We managed to get 7 GT in this spot over a 2 hour period and all were good size. I hooked two fish well over 40kgs but both times my line snapped. Over this time Derrick had not got a Big GT so we said we would get him one before leaving and with that I hooked into a nice fish for him and he was given the rod to battle the beast that we all hunt for. After a good 20min Derrick landed the fish it was a awesome fat fish. 120cm. We took some pictures during the day of some of the fish we got. All fish were released safely and hopefully they get even bigger to give someone else the chance to have one of these epic battles.
Double up and nice size fish.
