Hots Gipang Tide Lex 7'11 mh

Wayne Brown:
Looking at a PE 6 rod for stick baiting the usual suspects, including kings in Sydney and NZ (upcoming Ranfurly banks trip, and as a step down in lure weights from my FCL 81 Extreme which covers 120gm up) . Can anyone advise on what the ideal lure weight range is for this rod? Essentially looking for a rod to throw lures in the 60-100 gram territory with say 60-80gm perfect for most application.
Will probably run a Stella 6K or 10k on it.  Any other suggestions is always welcome in the 7.5' -8' range.

ps due to cost I am probably discounting the much admired Carpenter BLC range.

Regards,

Wayne

Trevor Skinner:
I have a BLC 83/35 and we did a side by side comparison of that and the Hots 711MH.

Apart from the obvious 4 inches extra in length it has a very similar profile. I think 80g would be doable but 60g with PE6 might be a struggle. In my opinion it would balance better with the 10000.

The 711MH is a very strong rod. I've seen good sized GTs hooked and landed on one using PE6, admittedly in the hands of an expert.

Trevor

Wayne Brown:
That's great feedback. The hots sounds like a good rod to fill the gap over a 60-80gm rod and the fcl 81 ext I use for 120gm up. Now to justify the acquisition of two rods.

Cameron Mundy:
I have one and like it a lot it's my go to rod for smaller lures I find its sweet spot with lures in the 60 to 100gr range with 80 being optimum its set up with a 10k stella and PE6 and is a lot of fun to fish with.

Hiya Wayne  :),

Hope all is well.

Yes, the Hots 711MH with the K guides is a very strong rod matched with a Stella 10000 and PE 6 & casts lure weights between 50 - 100g with ease with 80g being the optimum and a pleasure to use for long periods too. I have this same set up and also fish the local waters of Sydney.......which is your local to Wayne.

Others have mentioned this Hots rod as well with good feed back here. Go to Nick Bowles fishing report recently and see what the Hots 711MH caught with it's class, power & action, simply strong indeed.

Take care and well see you in the local place for a rod loading up test Wayne soon  ;D.

Tight Lines !.

Leo
