In the off season we have done a heap of work to get the boats refurbed and sorted out for the coming season. The boats were stripped down and then cleaned, painted and everything remounted. The engines were totally overhauled and ready for the new season. Cameron and the team have done a great job and good to be able to control the work being done on the boats and a big achievement to have the boats back into the water!
Using cranes to move the boats, all stripped down.
Salalah is not the easiest to work on boats but the guys all helped and was a great attraction for the local fisherman watching us work on our boats!
Nearing the end and remounting all the equipment.
Engines being delivered.
Sea Hawk 1 and Sea Hawk 2 refurbed, re-powered and ready to head for our island home by sea from Salalah!
After a lot of work and preparation we got the Southern Oman season started off with a bang! Jed Chamberlian, Russell Domingo, Greg Kurten and Neline (Rassie) Erasmus doing the first trip of the season. The khareef looked like it was calming down middle September but this was just a tease and we were all a bit concerned that the first trip would not start but we managed to get the guys out and fish for a few days before the weather turned bad. Luckily being based out on the island we did not have to bash through big seas and could run a few hundred meters and start fishing!
?The fishing was tough in the conditions and also raising fish but the guys landed a good number of GTs and lost a good number waiting for their return next October!??All the guys caught their PB GTs and a heap of other smaller species. Well done boyz!!??Rods Used:
