Pet Rock jigs

I have seen the shimano video on their pet rocks. They go pretty light and soft. We fished them on jigging gear and 50-70lb braid. The cod and Nannygai we were catching were up to 15 kg and they put on as much of a stink as mid range AJ's. We also replaced the hooks with 5/0 assist.
I think they are also designed for deeper water than we are fishing. We are only in about 40metres. I did some jigging in Canada for silly little rockfish, anything under 150m was shallow! Pet rocks over there would be very effective I think.

When I tested them the eye that the hooks are attached to just opened up without a lot of pressure.
I used them instead with an assist hook attached to a solid ring on the leader (same as knife jigs) and they worked really well for snapper. I was only in about 10m water so was casting and jerk retrieving until I lost them in the foul.At the same time we were catching nothing on bait.

We replaced the hooks with 5/0 assist. The wire loop looked sus but held together OK. I bought a few of the OCTI brand and will give them a swim tomorrow. Seem to have a lot more skirt material.

When do the shimano ones come out ? I cant locate them in any of the tackle stores Ive been too. I have seen some Gillies ones and River2Sea and thats it.

Dave [Cam's Dad] has picked up a 'Nagi Katana' Jig to take back to NZ for Cam, it's in lovely Lumo Pink and called a 'Lumo Homo', no Jappanese translation required
