Stickbait rod for PE6-8, advise needed

<< < (3/6) > >>

David Noble:
The Carpenter TBL 83/32 should be on your shortlist.

I had the Temple Reef 78HH and although a lovely rod it was more of an allrounder and the tip a bit stiff for working lighter (70-110g) stickbaits that I wanted. I sold it as it was too close to my other allround popper/stickbait rod.

So ended up going with the Hots 711MH, lovely set up ideal for stickbaits (and fish) in that weight range. It worked 125g fine, and I think I also cast an Orion 140g on it. It's better matched to 10/14k size reel.

Cheers Dave

Trevor Skinner:
Yes, Hots 711MH as well, didn't mention that one.

Lighter than the 83H but very, very capable rod. I've seen +40kg GTs landed with it.

Trevor

Jason Haack:
Thanks all, have some homework ahead of me thanks to the huge response. Very appreciated.
Going to closer at the following three, going to be a tough choice.
Hots 711MH
Carpenter TBL711/35
Ripple fisher Ultimo 79MH

Regards,

Jason.

Jason

The TBL 711/35 is one of the sub-8 feet Carpenters I alluded to when I said they are almost impossible to get. I have not seen one of these for sale for long time.  If you can get one then from all I have heard it is a very good rod.

The other Carpenter I meant was CV79/35 (not the much more common CV 79/40).

Cheers Mark.
