Favourite skipping top water lures

Dan Kaggelis:
Just after people's opinions on skipping top water lures for GTs . Watching the nomad explore vid and several of the ones used look like they would work well on my local fish

Luke Wyrsta:
Hey Dan!

I constantly tell GT anglers that you should never go anywhere without at least 1 or 2 in the kit.

My favorite is the humble old Fisherman Long Pen 100. There are some nice new colors with flying fish-like foil wings.

There's a few reasons....
They are a great "exploratory" lure to canvas and scope out areas
The speed and rhythm from the action of these lures is a great "run down and kill" GT trigger
They mimic flying fish, long-tom and other fleeing baitfish profiles very well.
They don't have to always be worked fast, more tip action and you can "slap" the water with nice steady pace.
They work great in most conditions, and in particular areas of strong current where "pulling" poppers and stickbaits "through" current is futile.

Luke

Brandon Khoo:
I agree - the long pen has been the standard for a long time.

Mark Harris:
Totally agree with what Luke has written - that's an excellent run down on why every GT angler should have skipping pencils in their bag.
For some reason they have become unfashionable - beats me as to why.

Leo Sorbello:
Hi Dan,

Also, you can add the Orion 130g flapper surface lure in the mix too..........

Tight Lines !

Regards

Leo
