Sew 5 stitches into center(s) of yellow braid. Spacing is about 1-2mm

You get 5 stiches of yellow brain into red braid and 5 stiches of red braid into yellow braid. Pull softly every end to smooth the join.
Apply cyanoacrylate glue to the whole stiches

You get strong, small joint without any knots.

Yes, strong connection. Better than using knots, usually breaks at knot.
Even if you don't glue it, it is same strength

Very nice achievement David, I have friends who made about the same thing but I must say that my old shoulders (72 years)    do not allow me to fish with a drag set to 20k  ;) so that I have never broken a fishing knot since I make exotic trips, only since 14 years

How about using a section of hollow braid and pull the solid braid inside from either end.  Common way of splicing braid.  You can use some light solid wire to pull the solid into the holllow if you don't have the splicing needles.
