Hi Jose  :),

Welcome to this forum.

When I've used a twisted leader of 140 lb's connected to a say 5 - 6 ft 80-120lb's bite leader a mate of mine tied them for me using a " roll knot ".. I've not tied this myself and did not see it being tied because I gave them to my mate for him to do it for me at his time available. I've got about 12 rigs tied this way and use them sometimes. It looks quite nearly done & strong too.......and I have had no problems casting as well when I've used this rigged set up.

Normally twisted leaders is of good supple mono shock leader like Varivas & the bite leader is either mono or flouro carbon leader material. It's personal preference......Fluoro is a little too stiff for a tied twisted leader in my view.

I've not heard nor seen as many people here in Sydney, as I used to in the past people using twisty's/bite leader set up. I'm seeing more and more people using FG knots or PR knot connection these days.

There could be the more experience GT fisherman members on here who could give other connection knots for your application question.

Tight Lines & safe fishing to you.

Regards

Leo

Hi Leo,
Thanks .I've never used twist leaders before, always use hollow braid (spliced 3/4 meters of hollow to solid main braid ) and then windon
with loop to loop.works very well but would like to give twist a try.
Thanks again,regards
Jose

Hi Jose,

It might sound complicated but it is not, I use twisted leader for GT Fishing and tuna fishing and i am very happy with the results in general,
I converted to the twisty in about 6 years now and i would not look back,
best way is to have a hollow line as your main line, you will attach it to the twisty as a loop to loop and you just tie in over hand to the end of the twisty to hold it, after you will get a bite leader of your choice that you will tie to the twisty using a figure 8 knot, that knot is a bit bulky but will stay outside the guides, please check the following link it might give you a clear picture: http://www.saltywatertackle.com/lines/saltywater-tackle-twisted-leader-system-580.html

Hi Jose,
No problem with the figure 8 at all it is bulky but durable, need to wet it and tied slowly to make sure the line is lined up correctly.

Sami, that is a killer diagram.  I really appreciate the time you put into that.
Thank you!

Hi Chris,
My pleasure :)

Hi Jose,

I had never used the triple nail knot so I can't give you an advise based on something that I never tried,
It is worth to try and if it doesn't work go back to the figure 8.
