Singapore GT Pond
November 11, 2014, 02:15:57 PM
I heard about the GT Pond while visiting Kaiser Pro Tackle shop and decided I need to investigate.

I made a booking and this past Saturday afternoon I had a bit of fun with PE2-4 setups.

Had a lot of fun at the Pond.

The 40lb JB Solid is coming off the Stella 8K as I now have 3 fish the moment the fish starts running.

Now I cant wait to get stuck into the big boys in Mafia next Feb.

Who here on the forum has fished the Pond in Singapore?

Haha I've heard of it, would be good fun to test tackle and work on technique. Although I do feel a bit sorry for the GT, I'm sure they have to visit the dentist quite often...

They managage the fishing activities to advance bookings and 3 hour session either morning or late afternoon.

No technique required... Hit and lift the head as soon as possible.

Light tackle does get tested to the max as there are GT's of 15kg.

Did connect to solid fish that bite off the leader at the knot or did not get hook set despite striking hard...

All and all its just a bit of good fun and frustration playing with the "pups"

I have been to the pond for quite a few sessions.
Its a quick fix to the itch of fighting a GT as the average person can only go for 1 or 2 popping trips in a year.

The Pond owner Eduard is also a well know GT fisherman in Singapore.
There is a Facebook page for the Pond.

I am from SG.
Fished there a few times. The fish there do put up a good fight.

Make sure you go make a couple of casts next time you are in Singapore.

There are a few 15kg GT's in between now

Revisited the pond last month. Was using a PE3-5 rod, Stella 5k and 50lbs mainline.
Unable to stop a couple of GT from going into the opposite site of the pond structure.
Only managed to land a 5kg GT. Need a heavier reel & line next time.
