rod to work 60-100g sticks
Byron Ford:
Looking to add a new rod for my aitutaki trip next week for light GT and reef work inside the lagoon ,will be matched with a 10000sw fishing 50-65lbs. will be used 80/20 sticks/poppers with mainly working sticks from 60-100g but more around the 60g mark
I would also like to use this rod for sydney kings and tuna if possible
I got a lot of great info from dan konig post on pe 5 rods , and was able to have a feel of the blue snipper 80/5 and loved it, also looked at the saltiga rods, these rods are at the top of the list in price and choice so far
my question is will the blue snipper work sticks in the 60g range or am i pushing it??
and also are the bottom end rods worth a look? shimano ocea and t curve stick bait range, wilson live fiber, jigging master or any other rod worth a look that i can get my hands on in a week???

How about a Race point 150 from Saltywater Tackle?
My experience with Gts in Aitutaki esp if you are close to the reef/bommies in the lagoon you will need PE6 minimum even on smaller models which are uncanny and strong.
Byron Ford:
thanks for the reply james, yeah i will also have a pe8 set up (gt82lc/1800sw)
I've just been out looking at rods and scatting my brain and what i really want and what the rod will be mostly used for
what I'm really looking for is a rod that can work 50-90gr sticks baits 80% and 20% lighter poppers with mainly sticks in the 60gr range
able to fish 40-60lbs
Used for
* little reefies in the lagoon, blue spot trevs, small gts
* casting at the fads for small tuna and mahimahi
*sydney kings (not nz lol)
as mentioned the blue snipper is the top of my price range, so any rod and thoughts would be appreciated

Hi Bizza :),
Hope all is well.
Have a look at the jigging master range, you'll get it from........you know where from.
The surface assassin model at 7'5 ft two piece should fit your application and throw nicely all your lure weight ranges with your sticks/poppers you've mentioned and perform well with the expected fish species you're after. I've got on and it's nice.........and strong, it's more a PE5 rod and well balanced with your 10000 Stella. You'll love it for the Syd kings too.
Also, have a look at the Temple Reef 78H model, this too will fit your applications required and also you know where from. If you're wanting in that 8 ft length and for the price, consider the Daiwa Saltiga 80TN, that too will do it for you.
Good luck, and see you at the coffee place.
Tight Lines !.
Regards
Leo

The BH Magic Eye 804S is my choice combined with a Saragosa 10 000 and PE 5-6 hollow core braid for the lighter inshore fishing in Vanuatu in September.
