Wind knot may be caused by your spooling the line too full . If you dont like Varivas GT Max , try Sunline CastAway which in my opinion is as good if not better than Varivas GT Max .

Another suggestion for Japanese pe lines is the
 Shimano Ocea ex8 pe8 lines

Sunline Monster Battle for me! I like it better than any of the Varivas lines I've tried.
