I'm going to take a few of these homemade stickbaits to the Swains next week along with the one I have bought and hopefully the following week I can add my own fish that a stickbait will catch to this post.
Brandon you where right with a little more weight in the nose they worked so much better.   Thanks Warren

no worries - you're a great craftsman, Warren, Those poppers and stickbaits look as good if not better than many I've seen in stores!
Good luck and I hope you have good weather
If it swims; I want to catch it!

I Think it's being very generous to say that our first efforts would match that of a  lure sold  in a shop  but when I get back I will start on the signature series and then we will see.

That thing is a monster!!! As Brandon said I thought that 10-12kg was a big trout, let alone 30kg!! :o :o

PS. They are some sweet looking sticks baits warren!!! Maybe some on should do a bit of a popper/stickbait making post with some pics and tips from start to stop!!!

Warren,

very nice looking stick baits mate.
Hope they get sucked down in walloping explosions!!!!!!

As for the trout above...it's a honker...they DO exist!!!!!!!!!

I have found by using the GT sized poppers & sticks that 'cigutera sized' trout are too common!!

Ya need to resort to Supa Bloopers on PE2-3 to catch the 2-4kg models that won't give you the tingles!

Aaron.

My stickbait success at Swain's was a hook up a very solid GT that we got to see but I didn,t land and 2 Sharky Mackerel. I was really happy with how a couple of my homemade stickbaits went. I think anyone how has a background in flytying and fishing will always want to catch  a fish on a stickbait or popper they have made. I will gets some pictures together on the stickbait production and post them. They are pretty simple to make.
                                           Thanks Warren
