Hi,
I know the popular opinion is that full finger gloves are the way to go when jigging and popping but I've been using half finger sailing gloves for fishing in the tropics for years (although I've not done a gt trip yet). If I need to protect my index finger I normally use a finger stall. If I really need a full glove i've got cheap MTB gloves (Fox Inclines).
My 15 year old Gill gloves have finally given up the ghost and the sailing glove makers seem to have moved on to a 3/4 finger standard... Every pair I've bought since (probably 6 pairs) seem to just have the tips of the fingers exposed and, try as I might, they're just not comfortable for general use. My main criteria is keeping the sun off of the backs of my hands and palm protection when tying knots and holding fish.
I just picked up some of the Aftco Short Pump half finger gloves. The only good thing I can say about them is that they are a proper half finger glove. Compared to a similarly priced sailing glove they feel poorly fitted and cheap.
So I found some Japanese half finger options: from Varivas (mesh 5 and 5.3 ), Owner (9654) and Daiwa (DG6304 or DG6102 ). Can anybody comment on the relative merits of these three please (even if it's the full finger versions)?
Cheers
Dave
