Regarding the two EP models, I understand your comment regarding nearly identical tips, but from the lure specs, I guess the 82/38 will max out with A Gamma 160, whereas the 82/42 might be able to work a Gamma 200?
The EP 82/38 will handle the Gamma 160 beautifully! A brilliant rod! Easy to work the bait and no problems handling big fish either.
