A view from our beach house

A big GT stripped the whole lure and left us with the wire!

The local fish market

Race Point 300 with a Shell Shaping Chu Bar popping lure

When the Tsunami Hit Kirinda in the past there were 2 employee working at the lighthouse, the wave covered the entire lighthouse and the 2 guys made it safely but now they took refuge in the mountain and since that time worker have refused to work on it.

Hello Sami
I expect this report with eagerness, you know why  ;)  at my age there is no hurry to grow old but I  look forward to go fishing at Kirinda in April 2015.
Excellent trip  :) however, I hope to have a more favorable weather, you seem to have had some tough days at this level.
Merci pour ce CR  :)

Looks like an amazing trip Sami,

Some big GT's around Sri Lanka

Question...

Do you ever target smaller reef species on lighter tackle?

HelloSami
One thing puzzles me, in all the photos I see the lure with the ventral treble, personally I put on my poppers only a big treble on the tail and possibly a short  assist with a  7/0 Kudako  at the head.
at Kirinda the majority of GTs  attack the popper by the ventral ??
Respect  :)

Hi Gege,
I normally prefer to use single hook at the tail of the sticbait but since I wanted to check on the new generation of the Intence hook i was forced to use 2 treble at all time, in general Poppers work way better than stickbait in Kirinda with slow retrieve and yes GT's tend to attack the head first so most hook up we see is from the belly hook, Nicolas is waiting for you and i am sure you are going to have a blast  ;)

Hi Gerhard,
I asked the guys about the inshore fishing and potential and they said it is very decent but 90% of anglers that come to fish with them don't want to be involved in light tackle or inshore fishing, they all want to fish for GT  ;)

Thanks Sami,

But do you ever do inshore fishing?

You only battle the brutes on all your expeditions reports and videos...

Hi Gerhard,
I rarely do any inshore fishing but i do enjoy it when the opportunity arise,
I do like the challenge when battling with big fish as the behavior is always different and it is always intense just like my daily life style  ;)
