oval split rings

I have been using oval split rings on stickbaits that are supplied with the lures and i find it easier to change hooks and do lure swaps on the water than the round split rings.  i am trying to track some down does anyone have any ideas or opinions if i should use them i thought they would be more common. have they ever cost anyone a fish?
