A knot to solve a problem that never existed. It's a silly thing.

Oh well , the overall opinion seems to be its a waste of time , happy to know the uni has universal approval and I won't stress about tieing an ag chain knot again .

I've never had a problem with uni knot to terminal. If it's not broke, don't fix it!

Heavy leader (170 lbs) plus mono or fluro a three turn - double threaded uni works beautifully provided it cinched solidly. Remember the double threading!

Hey John.

Cheers for the input.

When you describe double threading is that in ref to the finish of the knot?

For me, I refer to double threading as the start of the knot. Before tying the uni, run the leader through the swivel then loop it around and through the swivel again. Then start tying the uni.

It doesn't feel right to start with as the mono tries to flex itself straight and ends up all over the swivel but once you've done the twist/loops etc and start to tighten the knot up, it doesn't take much to get the 2 loops sitting perfectly side by side.

Tested a whole bunch of knots when I was bored during a vacation a while back using the same line and hooks. Pulled the knots against eachother at least two times. The winner in that test was a double through the eye four turn uni. Later, I have found that different knots suits different lines better but my go to/default knot is still a double through the eye four turn uni knot...

A few years back there was a Youtube clip with the AG chain knot being tested against several other knots. The "problem" was that the AG chain knot was tied on a thicker wire that the other knots which of course is a huge benefit.

Hi Jussi,

The Four turn uni proves itself again.

Thanks mate.

Lucas.
