New Shimano Twinpower 14000 vs Previous Stella 10000 Gold & Silver Model

Hi Guys I would appreciate you guys comments on the difference between the new TP 14000 and previous model Stella 10000.

I have a Stella and 16000 SOM Spool and looking at upgrading to the TP, if that could be considered a upgrade, to just try and keep up with technology.

Whats your guys thoughts?

I would stick with the 10K.

Shimano second tier reels have always been a bit of a let down IMO. I have not pulled apart a new TP, but i've worked on plenty of stella SW's, and they would be hard to improve upon.

Guys that have fished the TP may be able to add a little more.

Hi Craig,

You've got arguably the best top water reel of the last decade in the '08 10k Stella and 16k spool. There would be a lot of people out there that would argue your consideration here being a downgrade. In fact some even consider the '13 Stella to be a downgrade.

I'm sure the TP is a good reel but surely Shimano have learnt from Diawa's mistake with regards to their second tier reel. They made the Catalina too close in spec and performance to the Saltiga and it showed in '10 Saltiga sales.
