cheap but not that nasty

Just thought i would post a pic of a Gillies Stickbait that i purchased for $8.50
(half price sale). This lure accounted for 13 GTs and one turrum over two days fishing the reefs out from Hinchinbrook Island. The fish ranged between 10 and 20 kg. Just goes to show that you don't need to spend $100+ on a lure to still catch a nice fish. Mind you I think a horse would have probably bitten the thing in half without blinking an eyelid.

Im betting that your lure now really has that wounded baitfish look in the water....

Good to see Jordan, I reckon those $100 lures aren't about catching fish, it's more about having something rare and hand-made.  Of course expensive lures catch fish, but as you probably know by now, when GT's are biting you could catch them on a burnt thong.

I haven't tried a burnt thong but I have caught a GT on a popper made from aluminium foil which was a two minute job. Unfortunately, it was a one strike wonder!
If it swims; I want to catch it!

Jordan,

it's interesting to note that your gillies stick accounted for as many if not more fish than my ulua when fished side by side. for around a tenth the cost!

Alex i would nearly go as far as saying my teeth mark-ridden gillies with a home spray paint was all over your Ulua.

Alex, In saying that, if your home made job lasted more than two casts it might have outdone all other lures put together
