How practical/impractical is it to tow a boat behind a yacht?

If the yacht is cruising at " displacement hull " speed , should be relatively easy and safe to tow in calm sea condition but when the yacht is cruising at " planning " speed , I believe it not safe tow anything even when the sea is in calm condition .

how big is the yacht?and how big the boat?towed a 15ft boat behind a catamaran 48ft never again .when the sea gets on its head the boat influences the performance of the yacht,for a yacht to "sail" properly it needs some kind of wind and you cant tow a boat under those conditions .another factor to take into account is that most yachts dont have towing points as such and a 400kg hull in a big sea puts well over a ton of pressure on any towing points.we now lift the boat out the water and secure it across the stern and hang the outboard over the back .far easier
